Yes ebay charges fees as does paypal which i only use for low priced items buying or selling. Ebay listing fees are equivalent to advertising in the Auto trader, local rag each of which are pitched at a limited coverage, & you don't have to put up with the 3rd party canvassers who phone & ask you for £80 regardless of how you worded your ad.

I buy & sell OLD 50/60/70's diecast on ebay. You rarely see these at booties, the only alternative is petrol to a toyfair plus door fees & stall fees if you're selling so it takes a while to break even. I've sold 3 cars on ebay each of which ended early with cash at the door. I've found items i'd never find in a shopping centre, bought xmas & b'day pressies from the comfort of my own home, even arranged with the seller to send direct.
Yes ebay has it's issues but i can find/ sell/ buy almost anything so easily so am sticking with it.
