Nov 19th - day our new "leader" is appointed
« on: 11 November 2009, 11:52:09 »

That is the day the EU appoints El Presidente.

Wonder who it will be ?

And will we all get a public holiday each year to "celebrate"?

Don't recall being asked to vote for anyone. ::)

Silly me for thinking we're a democracy.

Point taken. ;)

Perhaps a better description is "the better" old days - when there was at least a semblance of democracy around. :(

Well we got a Belgian for the President .

hardly got any coverage on British TV. Fairly normal. As Nickbat would say Wake Up .

I bet when that job and the other top EU jobs come up for re election(re appointment?) there will be a bit more interest when people realise they aren't just notional jobs.

My choices were not even considered - in fact neither of them.

And I think they would have made excellent figureheads.

And of course the French don't like Royalty ;D ;D ;D ;D

Just think, Britain currently has an unelected PM, Ireland currently has an unelected PM and now we both have an unelected president :o

Over here the greens got 2.5% of the vote in the last election yet they're still in power  :(

And, if they get their way, we'll soon have an unelected World Government.  >:( >:( >:(

"How appropriate then that the coming into force of the EU's constitution should bring to power a man who wishes to see the EU funded entirely from taxes designed to save the world from global warming."

Mandelson must be pig sick.He came back from Europe to manipulate British politics to try to ensure Bliar got the EU presidents job,and then he would presumably have gone back to Brussels to assist him in the running of Europe.
It has turned out that Bliar didnt get the job,so Mandy has wasted his time and the woman who replaced him in Brussels has got the number 2 job.So if he had stayed there he would probably have got it instead. ;D ;D
The woman who got the job was treasurer of CND in the 80,s btw,so Im guessing she is slightly left of centre in her leanings. ::)
