Firstly how long have you had the Omega?

Secondly is it an Omega or an Audi?

Yes they do, it does not access the insurance database or police db. But they have their own system for flagging known drive offs

Exactly, and their "own" system is not even a close relative of what is commonly known as ANPR.

That would be the logical and sensible course of action L if the head office of the  fuel service centre concerned insist that this number was involved in a MOWP incident :y

Same comments apply above, need to contact BP and confirm why his number plate was added. Could be a typo for a similar plate, which did a drive off.

ANPR is used everywhere these days, going for the ferry last year, they just confirmed our names when i put the window down, then flagged us through. No passports, no showing our booking, just straight on!

I doubt for one minute that the car being registered to one of the people named on the passenger list was responsible for no checks taking place when leaving the UK, more like they were running late and just wanted to get you on board.

Like yourself we have no problem departing the UK (even in vehicles that are not registered to anybody travelling), but we get the full treatment when we come back....EVERY f**king time.

Our little Fiesta Courier van had the number plates stolen from the local Netto car park. Police have flagged the VRN and the local BP reported the VRN less than an hour later for it's involvement in a bilk on a green Vectra! The police have been in touch since in responseto an attempted bilk in Suffolk using a blue Ford Mundaineo so there must be a link somewhere.

I am still surprised that the government failed to foresee what the "unintended" consequences of using ANPR to fine people for stopping for 20 seconds while they drop a passenger off were going to be  ::)
