who's a mobile phone guru?
« on: 01 December 2009, 19:12:11 »

My (retired) Mum works in a charity shop. Please bear with me!  ;D  ;D  ;D They get all sorts of cr4p go through the door, but they got a mobile phone in that my Mum took a fancy to ... Vodafone VK570 like this so she bought it for a few quid, paid £10 on the market for it to be unlocked from Vodafone & she was a happy Mum  ;D ...... for a couple of days  :-?. My lad (he's 21) then decided to help & update the directory etc & other settings!
So ... one of the settings on any phone is a keypad lock. Why he needed to lock the key pad on a flip phone is anyone's guess .... but he did.  :-? he then discovered that the previous owner had set a password/code on the keypad lock ...... :-? :-?
So my Mum now has a phone that she can't unlock the keypad of, because obviously we don't know the code the previous owner had put in!  :(

Anyone any ideas other than use as a paper weight?  ::) ::)

Couple of options for you.

1. Enter the passcode incorrectly 3 times, and you will be asked for a PUK code....you get the PUK code from the service provider.

2. Flash it with the latest firmware, that puts everything back to factory default.

That's a bloody good idea! I think you can even get O2's online .... doesn't that defeat the object?
Thanks Mark!

Defeat the object of what?

If it's a nicked handset/SIM, then no amount of code entering or firmware flashing will get it working (at least, in the UK).

You could try [ to unlock the key pad ] by pressing

menu button then * or #

or if it's asking for a code just try the default numbers

00000 or 12345

that may help .. what you got to lose  :question

Hey Andy .. im glad you sorted the key pad out ..

as for the code .. try 0000 as a code or unless the old user
may have put his own code in .. then its anybody's guess

But i'll look on some other sites for you later , if you can't sort it out ..
