I like some of the Beatles stuff but i've always found Macca on his own irritating tbh.
Band on the run album was a good'n though.

He's a stupid, self righteous, old tosser. One of the people who think they are important because they were once famous.

I am a bit of a Beatles fan,and whatever anyone thinks of their music they were the most important/influential band in the history of popular music.I was also a big George Harrison fan.
Mcartney however, gets on my wick, hasnt written a decent song for 40 years and doesnt realise that he lacks the personal charisma of Lennon, so is never going to be regarded with the same awe that Lennon was.
I think lennon was a bit of a prick myself, but he was a charasmatic prick imo.

I might be alone in never having liked the Beatles (or indeed, any of their work).......over-rated and over-exposed!
Sorry to McCartney/Fab-Four fans; just MHO. :P

Pretty much summed it up there mate! Im quite a Beatle fan but not blind to the fact that they put out some dross as much as anyone else. What I think makes them both stand out and be relevant even today was the musical development and growth they went through in basically 8 short years, but without the know how of George Martin, charismatic as they were and the authors of some great songs, would they ever have been as good as history remembers them? Like you, always thought George Harrison the most interesting one, talented as Lennon and McCartney undoubtedly were. McCartney is a fine bass player and tunesmith but his voice is going and his "thumbs up" persona must irritate everyone. To quote Lennon "the only thing youve done was Yesterday" (and he wrote that in 1970 ;D)

Completely agree Jerry, the development from "she loves you" etc, to "eleanor Rigby " for example has never been matched by any band since.
Harrison -while my guitar gently weeps/isnt it a pity/something,not to mention his solo work, and exquisitely tasteful guitar playing..... 8-) 8-)
.....is that a line from "how do you sleep" (I think thats what it was called) ? with the line "how do you sleep ya c***". Lennon wasnt much of a mcartney fan either apparently. :y :)
