Tv - which button to press for Xmas ?
« on: 15 December 2009, 12:20:07 »

We are getting there! We got the big screen Phillips TV out (haven't used it for 6 years), hooked up the Sky box and the Spanish market LG DVD/VHS video. Not exactly cutting edge technology but we will be able to record anything "good" over Xmas.

Not without its problems though. We have frequent short power cuts and the LG box resets itself to Spanish time (plus 1 hour from UK). It will only record if you choose AV2 out of Pro1,AV1,2 and3. It will only play back a tape or DVD if we switch the Sky box off. I have tried every permutation of Scart leads but it works best as per manuals.

There are wait for it 136 buttons across the three remote controls though we have got one handset now doing quite a few of the main functions. Still find that some do odd things like change channel on Sky sometimes puts the TV into standby mode but on balance it "works".  Don't you love technology!

Now where are the mince pies and sherry?

Easy one to answer. It was too big ( old CRT technology) and heavy for Mr and Mrs Varche to move on their own!

I've had a look in all three manuals and no there isn't an OOF button but then all three were made before OOF was created just after the ark was built.
