Coldest for some time......
« on: 21 December 2009, 10:17:07 »

Driving to work this morning the outside temp was showing -9C!! - haven't seen it that low for some time.
As if that's not enough of a hazard, damn windscreen washer jets froze and made vision very difficult with all the crap being thrown up on the screen.

They are?......I knew the door mirrors heat up when the heated rear screen is on but didn't know about the washer jets. :-?

Yup they are heated, but only the pipework under the bumper is i belive, the actual jets are not heated, water still leaves the jets cold, but its supposed to stop it freezing between there and the bottle

Other way round, I think. The jets are heated but if your mixture is not strong enough the tank is prone to freezing because it's out front in the cold airflow.

They heat all the time the ignition is on, not with heated screen IIRC.

Lucky Lucky you!!  I did three trips out there (roof on airport amongst other things)  mid/late nineties absolutely loved it, cant afford to go back for a holiday but would jump at the chance to go again, make sure you try the 'old china hand' if you end up missing a good english breakfast!! :y

I use a 50/50 mix with genuine Vx screenwash - 5ltrs is dirt cheap on Trade Club.

Never had a problem, providing you let everthing warm up first.

I wouldn't worry about it Bob, you have alcohol running through you veins so you won't freeze up  ;D

Well, I never knew that, always thought they only worked when you put the heated rear screen on, you learn something new every day :)
