Often if i see something i like to watch, i'll record it, then go do some else on purpose to miss the adverts so i can come back and fast forward them  :)
On the plus side, if you do miss it the first time around then you know it's going to be shown again for at least the next 2 months on a regular basis

My brother offered me his old Sky Plus box, so if I get the Sky freeview card than day to day TV can be recorded in bulk on that as HD is not essential for that.  Dunno the max HD size on them though.
Forget them mate, the record/playback funcionality is disabled unless you have a subscription (and it stays disabled even AFTER the so called 12 months when the box becomes your property).

You must think I'm one of your numpty Sly customers  ;D
Even the Beeb don't show the same shit week after week for months on end and proffer the excuse of "we do that for people who work late"  ::)

Not surprised, they won't get much signal in there  ::)
Very true, however you'd think your paymasters would have realised by now that the + boxes they provide are nothing short of shit....and that replacing them for something that actually works (as well as providing slightly more features than what could be expected from a 30 year old VCR) would be a lot more beneficial to them in the long run.

Would be worth them chatting to the big boys like Topfield and Humax - they know how to build a PVR

I was just hoping to avoid the gibbon running 50 metres of CT100  round 3 sides of the house (with the nails into the damp course, of course, because it's easier than brick).

I the end it was a win-win. I got to connect the dish properly to the existing downlead whilst risking certain death in my loft, and he got to sit in his van in the layby up to road eating a kebab and smoking B&Hs. :y

Kevin

A few neighbours have Sky - the wiring they do is poor - just chucked over the roof.

My Freesat install cables are neatly clipped along the side of the house and the TV and Radio aerial cables through the loft.

On a slightly serious note .... and I'm FREESAT not SKY

What is the idea behind upgrading to a maoosive HDD ???

We've got a Humax HD, no idea what size HD it is .. but is less than 25% used at the moment ...

You record something, you watch it, you delete it.

As you can't transfer from HDD to DVD, if you like what you watch and wish to keep a copy ... USENET, download and burn ...

works for me ... :)

320GB I think

However you can copy in file manager or  non Freesat mode - I will need to look it up

Thanks for that ..but apparently when you record it is an odd format that can't be turned to video/dvd.

Yes you can stick a memory stick in and "save" to it .. but I've not found a program that will transpose the data to useable .. :(
