Yep, have to agree. You can't get on board an Easyjet flight at Gatwick with as much as a Zippo lighter in your pocket ( :-[ :-[  ;)).

Mind you, the intelligence-gathering community will be having a field-day.  :y

From the BBC link: "US and Dutch media report that the suspect is a Nigerian national studying in London."

Hmm. Why am I not shocked by that statement?  ::)

 :( 'We' have paid dearly with regards to ideology-based terrorism: our soldiers and citizens killed, our treasured civil liberties gone and/or changed forever...not to mention the mind-numbing fiscal costs.
Where will it end? :-X

Had you been so Nick, I would have been very disappointed. ;D ;D

Seasonal merriment aside however the basic fact says all there needs to be said.  This country seems to be a breeding ground for malcontents – now, just why is that?

With the total emasculation of our people Maam:

With every individual movement being monitored;

With a state system so focussed on intelligence gathering that the investigation of real crimes will be regarded as being of secondary importance;

In a system where petty bureaucrats assume a role of importance totally unrelated to their ability to be of constructive use to the people they purport to represent;

In a land where neighbour will be encouraged to spy upon neighbour;

With a country where the rights of the individual are casually thrust aside in favour of state decree;

In land where laws and polices are formed by an unelected group impossible to remove by the electoral process;

And finally, in a land where due consideration for others is rent asunder in favour of the petty individual concern for personal aggrandisement and desire for a place in a position above that of others.

And all of these things are done in the name of prevention of terrorism,and yet we are one of the most useless countries at preventing terrorism,due mainly to political correctness. >:(

....ineptitude, political interference and the conflicting interests of various security agencies ;) :-X :(

There’s too many bastards chasing gongs and seeking their place in the sunshine and satisfying glow of state approval to be really bothered about what's right and wrong.

Hang on!  We've got all that now.

New Labour policy as I understand it.

I was in Surrey for Christmas and had to remove all the crackers from the table because I had not had time to run all the family past MI6. (not). ;D

If you delve into what terrorism achieves (some listed above) you find it is quite a powerful weapon.  And all it is is uncivilised behaviour. Wow.  We're sure heading there.
