I use B and M in Nottingham......I would also find a good local galavaniser plus powder coater and offer it as a cost adder.

I might be after a gate at some point.

But have you considered car and garage security as well.  Fold down posts (or even pop up posts - that have a sleeve with a lift up post) for drives etc and some sort of kit for added security to garage doors.  Just a thought

Meant to say just look in your yellow pages for steel stock holders.

Used to deal with an alloy stock holder, what ever size we wanted was the same price, just picked it and paid by weight.

Rfound a couple of placeseason for asking this question is that i have had a couple of prices, and they are coming up at £12 per 6 metre length of 12mm bar,and seems a bit expensive to me,considering i would need just over 3 lengths to make my own gates, and the same again for the flat to build the frame. :-/

Sounds about right at the moment, think we pay a little less but, have been buying for a while so get better discount.

Steel prices are quite high at the moment

I work for a steel company and for that type of thing would recommend bradley steels or harris steels - both in west midlands.
