Ringing in the ear is Tinnitus and can be a serious problem .... have a good read on this site...

http://www.tinnitus.org.uk/index.php?q=information/info+sheets/front+page/what_is_tinnitus.htm

and get to a doctor.  It is probably nothing .. but could be.

And BTW .. syringing does NOT cure tinnitus, and ear wax does NOT cause it either

If it were a wax problem.....and, If you are certain that you do not have a punctured ear-drum; you might try irrigating the ear canal using a shower spray-jet (wandering handset type is easiest) with "as warm as tolerable" water; hold the shower head close to the ear and move it about to enable the 'jet' to penetrate deeply into the ear-canal whilst tipping your head over to enable the run-off to come out.....it 'sounds' (and feels) uncomfortable whilst your doing it, but the warm water lavage will surely soften and loosen the wax. :y

Dont mess with it mate, see your doctor ASAP.
They dont do new ear drums, though can get plastic floppy bits!

Due to drastic surgery for a burst eardrum that wasnt seen to I had to have my drum removed-stupid thing still hisses though!  WHAT!  SORRY? EH?

I'd get to the docs asap, and get it checked out, and in the meantime don't be tempted to poke any thing in it.

Not really ... after 38 years in aviation (and being in charge of the aircraft pressurisation) I have seen/dealt with far too many folks who have ignored minor ear problems until they suddenly become very major.

It's not nice when the guy who complains of shooting pains in his ears, tells you he's had earache for a week but ignored it.... shortly followed by a scream and blood as his eardrum bursts...... mind you .. once it bursts my job got easier .. it was the trying to stop it bursting that was the hard part !!!

I suggest you answer it then mate if its ringing. ;DSorry couldent resist that, but on a more serious note, the missus reckons using earex, and if that doesent help in a couple of days, you need to see the quack. ::)
