I'm off to get a new phone on my contract tomorrow. Same thing will happen as every other year. A spotty kid will tell me that this new phone does this and that and I'll tell him that I'll have another crappy nokia please, cos I'm used to working them.

Just like classic "grumpy old men" episode that sticks in my mind. Think it was Arthur Smith.

"Would you like to watch TV on your mobile phone?"
"Nope. And I don't want to piss in my tumble dryer either."  ;D

Up until now I amazed my kids with my nokia 1600 because it makes phone calls anywhere in the country and shock horror the battery lasts more than 20 minutes before the power goes and panic ensues looking for a charger for their all singing all dancing stuff.I say up until now as santa has got me a nokia 7100 this morning.I hardly use the phone and I can't justify a contract as I am old and have managed all these years with about £10 every 8 - 10 weeks sometimes longer.

Im the same,a phone is for making phone calls (occassionally).I just had a look at mine to see if it is gay or not, couldnt remember who made it - its a Nokia, so I may be a bit gay but it isnt an Apple so Im not in Darth Loo Knee territory yet.I found something which says "Apps" but I have no idea what it does and life is too short to spend time pissing about with it trying to find out.
It does have an MP3 player built in though which has free unlimited downloads. :)

I should add, though I've only had it a couple of days, I'm really impressed with Windows Mobile 6.5

Its a fair bit different so still finding my way around, and not entirely sure where TouchFlo ends and WM6.5 starts. Still looks like it doesn't have the 'gestures' of gayPhone, so no doubt manufactures will still add 'gayPhoness' to it.

? upgrade or new/changed os?

New rom to fix the issues that the last o2 rom update put on (once phone lost signal (common round my way), it would never regain it.  TYpically useless (modern) HTC heap of junk.

New rom has cured all my existing gripes, except screen sensitivity (varies around screen) - but that might be due to the hard life the phone has had

hmmm, its all very well updating the os to something more up to date, but nout works with the new software. Tomtom only ever made symbian based software for nokia, so thats out. :( (along with its traffic)

google maps, traffic tv, and all the other gadgets and gizmos you can download are out too. Very little available other than facec0ck and idiotter shite.

Should  add, n900 has maemo based software. Totally new os. No apps for that.... yet. >:( ;D

My current phone consists of a nokia 5110.

I had a sagem something or other but that ended up in the washing machine and then I ran it over in disgust.

This nokia is the best phone ever made. Still working as new and can be used as an axle stand if necessary ::)

I have some software for SYmbian. Navcore or something like that? Its 2006, and is on a MMC card thats can cut in half (Nokia thing apparently). If it will work for you, its all yours (I bought it for the bluetooth gps it came with, was cheaper than buying the GPS on its own).

Obviously I wouldn't have one if any profits go to Sony's coffers.  Not sure another Admin will like them so much any more ;)
