I'll stick with my opinion too untill the take radios out of patrol cars!!

Do you suggest Officers respond to jobs based on telepathy?

That's not the point. If it's as dangerous to hold a conversation with someone who is elsewhere as the experts try to tell us, then it's as dangerous on a radio as it is on a phone .......

Even if the Radio is hands free - (which incidently is also allowed for the public?)

Either way you have to be realistic Andy.

At the end of the day, a Constable is also exempt from speed limits, by law, when travelling for a policing purpose.

This is a necessary evil, in order to do their job, in order to keep people safe. Its a calculated risk.

Using a radio comes into the same catagory. They just couldn't do the job without one!

It would appear you are attempting to manipulate the (lawful) actions of certain statatory organisations in order to justify activities which, are, quite clearly, unlawful.

It's not as "cut and dry" as you make out

Looks, folks...  If you want to have a discussion on phones, radios, speeding patrol cars and stuff, go start a new thread please in genchat and not pick over old scabs on a help request thread for a relative newcomer to the forum.  Hey!  I'll even join in!    ;D

ta....   :y

But you had already joined in   ;D

Sorry, Broccie - I thought you had split the thread for that reason, Eg, to keep the conversations focused  :y

I dont believe he is, he is bound by the law of the land as well as we are, It is our courtesy (well some of us at least) that move out of the and accept that the forces have to use reasonable speed to do thier job.

The way you come accross there James is that they have an open rule book to do 155mph in a 30mph as they are exempt from the speed limit.  I dont think so.

So, every time a "road wars" officer goes over twice the speed limit when chasing an offender, he should be punished as if he were a member of the public speeding at the same speed?

Every time there is a report of an assult, officers should drive only at the speed limit when attending?

I clearly stated, that the exemption is only when it's necessary for a policing purpose... which you seemed to completely ignore.

Does that include your argument about exiting vehicles and intimidating ladies?

Sorry to be blunt Broocie - but you also contributed to the "off topic" discussion which wasn't about "which car is best", before you decided to split the topic :y

You dont see many Police/Ambulance/Fire vehicles with only one occupant.  The passenger in the vehicle is the one who deals with Comms.

As for speeding...... I believe the Emergency Services have to adhere to a code which allows them to run Red Lights and exceed the speed limit BUT ONLY WHEN SAFE TO DO SO.

Back to topic.  Using a Mobile Phone when driving is proven to reduce reaction times and reduce the drivers overall concentration, even when using Hands Free.  I drive an Auto...... never use two hands on the wheel, so what difference does it make if I'm holding a Cell Phone, Sandwich, big rubber dildo in the other?  The ACT of talking to someone else is what makes the difference.  So, I also think we should be banned from carrying passengers in the car. LOLZ.

James...

A quick divert off topic is one thing but a wholsale swap of war stories and argument between two folks is completely different.

As you say yourself, 'sorry to be blunt'.  Be nice or move on, your choice.  Not in the mood to swap pedantic ins and outs...

While I've put my point across in a direct manner, I have not been disrespectful or rude.

Act as you see fit.

No one says you are disrespectfull or rude.  Its appreciated that you argue the corner for Police Officers and their actions but, have a wee reality check as regards your actual hands on experience versus that of others on here....

'Move on' meant move onto another subject, nowt else......   :y
