Lost wallet, bad day
« on: 03 January 2010, 18:35:17 »

I went to Bristol today to pick up some parts from RobG, really nice bloke and the parts were an absolute bargain. Somehow though I've managed to skillfully lose my wallet with al my cards and some cahs in. I think I may have put it on the bonnet of the RR when I was putting the parts in and taking my coat of etc, and forgotten it and driven off. I can't think of any other way I could've lost it. The bonnet on the RR is all visible from the drivers seat, I'd have thought I'd have spotted it. But it's out there somewhere and I just can't think where. I've cancelled my bank cards, but I'm not sure what to do with the others? Driving Licence, EHIC, N.I card and others. Should I wait for a few days to see if it's handed in, or apply for new cards asap?

And to make the day better, I stopped off for 5 mins somewhere and parked on a hill (wallet gone by this time so didn't fall out then), and some moron who'd parked 16 feet behind me, thought because he had an auto he didn't need the handbrake. So I came back to the car to find a Mondeo impaled on the tow bar. Caused me no damage, had it checked...but his car wasn't looking too good. The auto gearbox should have held it, but it obviously didn't. His excuse was I didn't think you needed the handbrake on an auto. So if anyone out there thinks they don't need it, pleeeeease use the bleeding thing!

Tough luck mate :(

I'd apply for new ones. The old ones may turn up, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Bugga with losing your wallet.

NI Card, be carefull, you are only ever allowed 1 replacemrnt, I dont know where mine is and need one to get a new driving licence.  so I would give it a chance and hope it gets handed in.

Handbrake on an auto, in all the auto's I have driven in the last 30 years I have never applied the hand brake to park a car. never ever used mine other than to hold on a steep hill in traffic, allways put it in Park and take the key out when I park it up, sounds like the plonker didnt do that.

All the Auto's I have ever driven used to creep in trafic, as does the Mig.  They all used to hold ok on a reasonable hill, my Carlton did this no problem, but neither of my Migs hold on the same inclines going into town that the Carlton did, so on occasion the handbrake is handy, just dont forget to use them a few times a year so they pass the MOT OK. :y

His Mondeo was a toal shed mind you , he could well have put it in Park, and it just decided to let go.
