USA Car Prices
« on: 05 January 2010, 14:50:44 »

Well a lot has been said about conserving our planet, and prices for running a car in the USA have risen since I was last there..........I had to pay up to $2.63 for a GALLON of regular fuel :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)  Well it was around $1 when last there!! ;D ;D ;D

But...........their prices for cars, pick up, and VERY large 4x4's are still amazingly cheap.   Around $25,000 (cash backs of $5,000 are commonly being offered !!) will buy you the latest GM / Chevy 3.5 (to me) super coupe, with all the mod cons.  $30,000 will buy you a very respectable super 4x4 'truck'!!

Yet again I was very tempted to enquire about importing one of the products!! ::) ::) ::)

Everywhere you go in the States there are just so many varients, models, brands of car, pick-up, and truck available, with seemingly still a high demand for new vehicles.  What was very interesting though was how Toyota, along with other foreign car companies have come to dominate the US market, making many of the classic American cars look decidely dated and even obsolete!! :o :o :o :o

You can see why the American made car market is so much in trouble!! :'( :'( :'(

i found they are cheap for a reason, crap build, leaf sprung suspenion even on family saloons. US cars are suited for US roads, no good for here.

Brand spankers mustangs were dirt cheap too, main problem is you have to live there, which i don't think i could do

Very true Tunnie!!  That is why the Toyota's of this world have 'stolen' so much of the American car market.  I had a Toyota Seinna V6 LE 8 seater to drive around in, and could not fault it; well apart from it's speedo only going up to 110 mph.............saved me a few tickets no doubt on their superb roads!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

This is what I got to sit in, but regrettably couldn't test drive.  Very nice too, at just $30,000 for the middle of the range model. :-* :-*

Ahhh Florida Sunshine stage plates, when i was there i had a Nissan, not sure what it was called but was the size of a Focus. Lots of hire cars were from European companies, although next hire car in LA was a Pontiac Grand Prix, that actually went around corners  :o :o

Came at a price though, averaged 11mpg  ;D

Uncles wife over there had a W12 Passat, which was quite nice, very, very smooth.

Petrol is cheap there, but with the poor mpg, its much the same costs as UK i think
