Women + Shovel = No
« on: 07 January 2010, 09:24:24 »

When i went my daily walk with Mutley yesterday, there was a young women across the road from my house with a Focus standing & looking peed off. She'd gotten stuck in the snow & was waiting for her mum to walk up the road with the shovel. When i got back the Focus was still in the same place & had been so all night.
She arrived again this morning (you your self must have seen the type that haven't a clue how to use something & she was one of those types with a shovel).
She had a couple of chips away at the snow & decided it was too much like hard work, put the shovel in the boot, got in the car & waited for the windows to defrost.
I made my breakfast & when i looked again the car was still there & hadn't moved an inch.
Now the road has a slight incline, but if the dozey mare was reverse down the road to the flat & have a run at it she'd get up without any worries.
I suppose i could be a gentleman & go give her a hand ::)
Nah, women want equal rights so she can dig her own car out ;D ;D

Equal rights is one thing, but I fail to see the correlation between the ability to carry out any particular task and the rights of the individual.

Nothing to do with equal rights.  Also nothing to do with what women want or think.

It is your bounden duty as a Gentleman to assist any damsel in distress, without expectation of gratitude or reward.  Or, for that matter, acknowledgement or credit from the feminist tendency.

Unless you've got a bad back. :) :) :)

No.
She can do it ALL by her self. She's stupid enough to get stuck, she can get her self out of it.

It's nothing to do with being a meanie. It's simple thought process:- Reverse down the hill & take a run at it. There was plenty of folk driving past her.

Besides i dug & gritted all of Liz's drive yesterday so my suit of armour was tarnished & needed a polish :P

The old guy next to me told me that he used to help loads of folk who got stuck over the many years of living down here. He would go out with a ashes, shovel, old bits of carpet & give tham a push.

Later they would see Ray walking home (he doesn't drive) in the rain etc with shopping & no one stopped & said would you like a lift.

Cuts both ways IMO ;)

I must say, during the last bit of snow I was out clearing the drive and a small hatchback started testing the rev limiter alongside me.  A young lady got out and asked for help along with "I've got a young baby in here" etc.

"What's the problem?" I asked

"I can't get up the hill." The reply, whilst all the other road users sailed past with no problem.

"You need to back down to the bottom of the hill and try again. Just take it steady."

"What?  Roll it back on the brakes?".

"Yes.  Or use reverse gear."

She gets in the car, rolls it back to the nearest parking place (still on the slope) and abandons it 'til it thaws.

I've got no idea what she expected but I don't have a CRB for snow recovery.

Got to agree with Pete.  Cant imagine you getting stuck in the snow without giving a good go before admitting defeat, same with Lizzie and the other ladies of the forum.

This dizzy bugga sounds like she has never handled a shovel in her life.

Debs for instance. She cleared all her drive without help, because there was none & good on her
They have limbs & a brain, i don't see why i should help.
If she was in a dangerous position then i wouldn't hesitate & that goes for blokes too :y

I bet I managed to clear my drive quicker than Debs.  A mere 20 mins.  Mind you, its not as long a Debs I had to sit down afterwards ;D
