I'm knackered, pt2
« on: 10 January 2010, 18:14:50 »

With this weather, its good to see a community spirit.

Due to the number of cars getting stuck and needing help in our Close (slight incline), particularly on the cobbled bit (a step up from road level to kerb level about halfway down the close), we all decided to get out there and clear the road.

Took some effort due to the compacted ice, and I'm not the world's fittest person ::)

I was a bit wet and sweaty when I got back inside, in true fat bastard style  :-[.

Then I noticed all my computer stuff had died, OOF included.  That I can fix without too much effort ;D

I did notice the hiatus; I assumed you were busy, defrosting your plumbing! ;)

I was going to clear my drive, but my next door neighbour said his friend had a heart attack doing his. So I watched the footie on sky instead.

When i lived at mums and dads i used to clear our drive and footpath and get a load of grit out of the bin up the street and spread it on the road and footpath and let the traffic drag it up and down the street to clear it.... :y :y

Did a small patch outside mine this morning... Just so that people can get traction before hitting the curb (me included) and the neighbour cleared a bit of space in the turning area for us :y :y

I'll be out again for more tomorrow because the road in almost impassable now it's been rained on :( :(

My neighbours & I have cleared the lane 4 times now
It slopes in all directions, way off the main roads so we never see the local authority (too narrow for their trucks anyway). Ice was over 2" thick in places had to use a pick-axe on it
Gonna trade the Traktor in for something with 4 wheel drive if this continues!

Well... Sleet and drizzle really... But enough to make it slick! It's the worst I've known the road get in 5 years... It's a real struggle to get moving and keep moving in the right direction now :( :( Be OK if there weren't any parked cars so sliding wouldn't matter ::) ::)

I think I'll be out for a while tomorrow after dropping SWMBO off in the morning :y :y
