« on: 10 January 2010, 18:47:20 »

Hi everyone, not sure if this the the right section but the hell I,ll write it anyhow.
Why are omegas plauged by scabby paint blisters,my own 99 cdx has 2 on the o/s rear door.Looking at the same age veccys and astras, they are pretty clean.
What was the cause, poor german steel ,or what.

if you send a piccy I can give a more close answer..

however my initial estimation is that the rear door  is painted before and not done properly..

Might it be the spring-clips that hold the window rubber and wheel-arch trims that are causing the rust bubbles to creep inwards from the edges of the door.  ;)

OI!  Grumpy git....   :P   ;D

Take care with those on here who are less experienced in your direct and to the point observations on the superiour attributes of a much maligned and underestimated mechanical steed of choice of the discernig masses......   ;D

Ignoring the technical aspects of metal quality, preparation, paint pigmentation, light exposure, etc....just how long do you expect it to last before it shows signs of being exposed to various extremes for the last 11 years?

The prefacelift model suferred from rust appearing below the window weatherstrip on both doors as well as along the inside bottoms of the doors.  Arches also go as well but, to be fair, the latter could be said for quite a large number of similar aged vehicles...

Yep, my S-reg has the rust bubbles below the window seals. Annoying but not severe enough to warrant the money to correct. Last year I had a rust scab on a rear wheel arch done along with several rust spots on the bottom door panels but to be fair now these are sorted (below window bubbles aside) the car is in very good nick especially as I live on the coast with lots of salt/sand in addition to all the other crap that comes off the road.As others have said, for a 10 year old car in this climate that aint bad!

Thanks for the sensible answers, for those who are interested 2 rust spots are on the o/s rear door, bottom panel, and seem to orginated from poor pretreatmemt of the panel,Quality control during manufacture being the major culprit here.
                      Alfie.

PS I have owned 2 new cars, both had major faults, hence I now buy value for money cars, and am very happy with the comfort and performance of my rusty old omega,so bo----ks to you.
If you don,t like it you what to do.
