Going Tetra
« on: 23 January 2010, 22:10:50 »

The police have been Tetra for two years, and now the bloody fire service and ambulance service are to go Tetra on February 15th.
All scanners will be worthless.
What is a young widow going to do of an evening and where will she get all the gossip from?
Bloody Government, no consideration

Get out more perhaps?

PS

The old bill hate Tetra, it can take anything up to 6 seconds to obtain a channel when calling for help - and by all accounts, 6 seconds is about 4 seconds longer than what is needed to kick a human skull to vegetative state.

Look for as long as you like, and look very very hard, cos being a bit of a know all, it can be decoded, but it changes frequency evry press of the mic, so as there are billions of combinations it will NEVER be scanable or decodeable.

I am a form believer in the truth, and having spoken to a number of 'officers' in my pub during closed opening hours ;) and seen for myself the physical damage they do to shirts ( a brand new shirt had a black patch on it where his radio was after one shift) I think they who rule us will never admit this and officers will have to suffer.

There is equipment available that can be configured to scan multiple frequencies at the same time, it just depends on how much you care about it and how much effort you want to put into it :y

Given that tetra is a cellular based architecure then even if you could crack it, you are unlikely to get everything unless all parties on the comms your listening to happen to be in the same cell

The ONLY difference between a (TETRA) police radio/mobile phone is the RF power, other than that it is pure microwave.

I have no doubt that in another 8 years or so time we will start seeing claims from old bill that have suffered burns/cancer/leuky from wearing the handsets all day, but don't ever think for one minute the government gives a shit about your well being when there is money to be made.

There is also equipment that can decode phone calls (both sides of it) just by telling the scanner the number of the handset you wish to monitor.

Obviously only certain authorities have it, and hands up those that believe the ability to monitor was invented AFTER the ability to make secure  ;)

Geographically it doesn't matter as the network is national, we use them on occasion and have people down in Portsmouth talking to us while we play on the Plain :y

It would seem the best way is to clone one, so you'll have to drug one when they come in Di then nick his radio and clone it...... or just seduce the bugger ;D ;D ;D
