Dr. David Kelly

Im sure most will remember the case - the poor man was under extreme stress and pressure and took his own life apparently. There have been lots of conspiracy theories about him being murdered by the secret service etc, which were all "disproved" by the Hutton enquiry into the events surrounding his death.
Sky news has been reporting this morning that Lord Hutton has ordered that all documents relating to his death, including the coroners report, must be kept secret for 70 years.  :o :o
WHY????? :-/ :-/

We said that at the time. This just confirms actions outside the law.

In 70 years time when the truth comes out only the young amonst us will remember (or indeed be alive) and by then no one will care.

Having knowledge of Brian Hutton from years ago I have to say that as far as the Bar Council and Judiciary in Northern Ireland were both concerned, he was a well regarded QC, HCJ (High Court Judge) and lastly LCJ (Lord Chief Justice) - for the most part. I was very surprised however - as were others of my time - with his finding as a result of this enquiry.

Although he was LCJ (Lord Chief Justice) of Northern Ireland and was undoubtedly acquainted with the political machinations to which those occupying such high office are sometime exposed, the stakes in the Dr Kelly matter were of a much higher value so were always bound to hold the possibility and requirement for ‘wider interpretation’.

Whatever the conclusion, Dr Kelly appears to have been ill-served by this enquiry and by the State.

..

A tragic event......but no real conspiracy in my view..(far too much X-files).
Secret for seventy years.......seems unnecessary.....I will have no interest in such matters .....when I reach ninety-one.... ;)

Because the documents etc being made public would show the Hutton enquiry to have been somewhat economical with the truth.
