Any one like a Gamble

Whats the best bet you ever won.

Was it on the horses, was it a tip you were given.

Was it on motorsport.

Or was it just a bet in the pub that went seriously wrong for the other person.

and what did yo win.

My Dad used to go to a Health Centre/Spa place for a week every year.  One year he met a horse trainer that passed a dead cert on to him.  It was in the 70's and betting was different to the online crap of today.

The trainer said a certain horse would run once and come last before a main race at easter, he said the odds in the Easter race would be a minimum of 50/1 and advised my Dad to put the house on it so to speak.

For weeks before Easter my Dad monitored the racing and had a guy at work monitoring as well, but they never saw the horse come out, arround a fortnight before easter my Dad started carrying £800 arround with him in case the horse was put in last minute in a race arround Easter and then ready for a main easter race.

Nothing at all happened regards the horse untill the main Easter race, and because it had never run before it came out at 50/1 but my Dad wasnt sure what to do, so did not place the bet.

The horse romped home, and won nearly every race after that.  Pops would have paid the tax at the time of the bet and if he had the gut's to place £800 @ 50/1 would have been a very happy bunny.

The Horses name - Well of course it was Sea Pigeon
