Common Courtesy II
« on: 25 January 2010, 12:21:57 »

I went to the Post Office to post a letter. I was just about to walk in when a old lady was coming towards me & so i held the door open for her, she smiled & said thank you. A few feet behind her was another women (late fifties) & so i waited with the door ajar for her too.
She walked straight through & didn't even acknowledge my pressence let alone say thank you. So i said in a loud vioce in her ear "thank you", but she just kept walking. Either she was deaf, dumb & blind or just plain ignorant, the latter i presume >:( >:(
The next time i'll say "ignorant bitch" & see if that gets a response ;D

Why this really winds me up i don't know, but it does :-/

I find saying "You're welcome" in a very loud voice normally works well :y :y

Quite often get a "Pardon?" to which I resply, "Oh, I thought you said Thank you!" ::) ::) ;D ;D

Followed by a very sheepish retreat by the offending party ;D ;D

I wasn’t in the best of moods (which isn't like me!) rushing around on my college break a couple of years back. I can’t remember what I / She had done, but I remember calling her an ignorant cow! And her looking quite shocked! (Still never said ‘thanks’ or anything). Remember one of my mates commenting on how rude she was too  >:( >:(

That`s the misnomer about 'common courtesy': it`s not at all common! :'(

I always appreciate and value courtesy: but sadly, graciousness (both in the giving and the receiving) is rapidly becoming a 'lost art'.:(
