hi i just bought a w reg facelift omega cdx and im having trouble with the alarm. it goes off as the lights flash but no sound and previous owner doesnt know why. garage charged me colossaly for a test and said i need a new siren but read somewhere it needs resetting. has anyone got any ideas on how, why etc.

Normal alarm is a horn not a siren mate, the siren is for the battery disconnected alarm.
They maybe want to replace that (the power sounder)
Easy way to test it is remove the ignition key, wait a minute or so and remove the battery earth, it should go off.

The alarm horn is a seperate bit of kit, same as a normal car horn which is probably what is faulty in your car.

Remove the scuttle panel and you should find both.

As for £200 I think someone's taking the mickey.

Is there not a fuse you can pull out, problem solved, no one steals Migs anyway ::) don't think the alarms have worked on any of my Migs..... ::) ::) ::)
