« on: 31 January 2010, 02:07:01 »

I have one question. Why does anyone in prison have access to the internet at all ?  :-?

How else can they e-mail their drug dealers and top up their mobile phones?

Link doesn't seem to work, BTW.

Isn't entirely surprising given the state the country and its institutions are in.

Mobile phones are rife in prison and have been for years, and as pretty much all phones now have net access - that's how the inmates get access to the internet.

lol, worked in a few prisons doing service work, security is tight and with all the signs up about going into prison yourself if caught with contraban (phones, drugs, weapons etc...)
strange someone ended up with a phone in there!

And people wonder why prison isn't a deterent.

There wouldn't be any drugs or mobiles etc in prisons if I was in charge. Plus the prisoners would be too tired after filling sandbags or breaking big rocks into small rocks to have the energy for anything else.

It's not that easy to block mobile signals. Especially as our prisons tend to be in built-up areas so any jamming would affect punters outside (and mobile phone companies' profits. >:(). Don 'y ask me how I know. :-X

I don't see why they need electricity. Give them a tamper proof light in each cell, controlled by the man in the office, a bed and a bucket, of course. Where are they going to charge their mobile up then? They are there to have a hard time, after all, IMHO.

break em.
Shouldn't commit crime, what about the victims rights. Prisoners shouldn't have any rights apart from the basics.

When my lad got out last time his first words were "Lends £250 dad. I've got orders for 25 £10 mobiles. Get £100 each for them"
When I asked how he intended getting them in, he just laughed and said "Easy"
