It's a 4cyl!

I think I figured it out!  The transmission was first programmed for a 4cyl and then they threw it in the V6 with little effort spent.  A 4cyl Omega probably doesn't accelerate very well at below half throttle, so no point downshifting.  The V6 tranny only works above half throttle.  It means you go rocketing off everywhere, but that's what TC is for, eh?  ::)

If you want to drive sedately then get the manual V6 or a 4cyl.  If you want to chase Imprezza's then you will like the V6 Auto.

No, I have to keep it until mid summer at least.  If I have to drive like I'm in my mid-20's in order to be able to tolerate the car then so be it, cheaper to pay for the fuel.  It will need tires by the summer, and according to people here you have to spend about 500 on a set of tires or they don't deserve to be on an Omega, so another reason to rag it and scrap it.

It would be fun around the 'ring the way it is now.  Would suck to drive it there and back though.  Maybe I'll just drive it there and scrap it after instead of driving it home?

Well my 2002 Omega will be needing a set of tyres by the end of the year also a possible new exhaust system which will be from Vauxhall, will also have new cambelt waterpump and tensioners, am going to have new discs and pads fitted plus service and a MOT, I know it will cost a arm and a leg have been quoted by the garage that I use, the car wll be approaching 80K by the end of the year. I look at it the car is in prestine condition, drives like a dream, and all the work is is just wear and tear and a service. Never would think of selling it for service work. So just for a set of tyres to scrap a car think twice as all cars need tyres, my tyres will be about 3 years old when being replaced, so not so bad when you spread the cost over that period.

Tires will be half the value of the car when the MOT is due in June.  If I wanted the car then it would be worth fixing up.  However, unless the new shocks soften up a lot then it's not worth fixing up a car that you dread driving.

Yeah, we went through that a while ago.  A couple people agreed with me about 300 or less, but then others said anything less than 450 was unsafe . . .  ::)

Either way I won't get the money back if I am planning to sell.  I may try to put it through MOT this spring so at least it has MOT this summer.

Mine are shod with Pirelli P7's from the factory £75 each (£150 at Quick Fit) but a nice set of new cheaper rubber will always sell better than worn expensive ones.  But I understand your position and only you are best to decide nearer the time.  :-X

We'll see.  Maybe by then the shocks will soften, or I'll be on Ronnie's back pills.  :-/
