Anyone ever tried taking a bicycle on of the buses?

Whats the best way (affordable) to get from Heathrow to Reading? Do I have to go into Paddington on the Picadilly line and then get a slow train out?
Not a fan of the Picadilliy line but appreciate might not have much choice.

That car will not fit on Picadilly Line, OR any other line for that matter, better just give it to me to look after.

National Express stops at the Sainsburys at M4 junction 12 (I think its the Heathrow-Swansea route).  Out of town a bit but reasonable money as I recall.
