Eggs.
« on: 06 February 2010, 19:14:08 »

Most of us love 'em & you can do so much with them. Some friends keep layers & deliver 18 for £2.50. The quality is unbeatable. They hold together when poaching, turn out really yellow when scrambled, stay in a nice round shape when frying on a low heat without burning at the edges, great for egg fried rice & the cheesy mushroom omelettes or to die for!!! :P + they actually taste of egg :P (many don't).
Makes me wonder why supermarket eggs are so small, lacking in flavour & are just harder to cook properly? ::)

Hi AmigoMV6 ;) I can't agree more about supermarket eggs (shudder). When you crack 'em, the yolks look like they're swimming in water more often than not & yes, you're right, they are usually tasteless. I wish I had a ready supply of the 'real thing' :'(

I was talking to a mate who introdused me to a farmer friend of his, he said I could pop in for hen or duck eggs anytime when passing.  Never had chance to pop back but I right fancy some duck eggs.

Last had a ducks egg more than twenty years ago Skruntie, & your post brought back the lovely creamy taste as clearly as if i'd just had it for my tea! Isn't the human brain amazing? :y
