Cheap Car Insurance
« on: 02 February 2010, 17:20:12 »

I am looking to renew my dads insurance - he drives under 2,000 miles / yr, 10yrs ncd, no convictions yet still i'm getting around £250 fully comp. with protected ncd. Car is '02 plate Astra 1.6 auto.

Can anyone suggest where I could get a cheaper price as i've looked at tesco, direct line, rias, swinton, swift and god knows how many others?

The price you pay is dictated by a number of factors, including (but not limited to) postcode, garaged or not, make & model (unfortunately, Astra's are popular with TWOC'rs), and a whole host of other variables.

I'm guessing you've tried the various comparison sites?

zurich-connect.co.uk blew everyone else out of the water for the wifes recently, under 10k a year 10 years no claims etc.
Finally got to ditch those thieves at aa car insurance who stitched us up on renewal last year and tried it again this year.
i think protected no claims added £8 to the total. Oh and nearly always a named driver wife/brother/friend will reduce the premium so long as they have a clean licence and are a normal risk.

You are always better off jumping companies - all mine charged more every year so i went to another company and got a cheaper deal, but the "ex" companies actually had the cheek to ring me up and ask "why...?"  ::)

Having two drivers means it not you driving all the time, therefore the risk you present is reduced.

I am with Zurich as well and no-one could come anywhere near them! £346 Full Comp for my 05 plate 7 series. Beat that.
