My next boat building project
« on: 08 February 2010, 20:58:48 »

Dont tell the missus but I have found the next one to build.  She's an absolute beauty and fits several requirements I am looking for especially to get swmbo more into sailing.

http://www.lunadadesign.com/gato-especial-21.html

There is a guy building one in Greece and it looks good although he's made a mess of the port and sb windows.

Anyone fancy helping me lay fibre glass on this one?  ;D ;D ;D

Very nice design.....much-more work than that nice little skiff, though. :y

I just might know someone with an addiction to resin. ::)

I would like a roofrackable design with a payload of 5 people including 2 largish adults.

Something I could use on the Helford for example, but when we are down there we are bringing our accomodation with us, for the caravan haters, 4 to 5, 2 week holidays in that area in a rented house would equal the cost of a new caravan.

If you weren't so far away, i'd gladly help, but not with fibre glass. I wouldn't be sailing, but flying instead :D

Have a look at these:

http://www.boatplans.dk/boats.asp?BType=small_boats

I reckon you need the 15' family boat which on the extremes of car topable (albeit doable)  I would make the fore and aft decks flush with the gunwhales so those bulkhead would need modifying slightly.  It would be easy to fit row locks onto the gunwhale and to build a small bracket for an outboard.  A nice touch on this would be a small rudder that the kids could control while you slug your heart out on the oars!

If you decide to go ahead let me know and I could pop over and give a hand :y
