Off to FRANCE
« on: 11 February 2010, 17:22:08 »

I am going to France to visit the in laws, maybe that should be OUTLAWS, but thought I would pick up some fags and tobacco in belguim on way back, if anyone wants some cheap booze I am up to getting anybody anything, as there will be three of us going and don't mind using up allowance.
How long does Ferry take?
Any ideas on cost?
If anyone wants anything pm me, and that goes for ANYONE

I thought it was 3200 fags per person, and a couple of boxes tobacco, and so much whiskey etc?
I probably wrong though.

its not worth it any more, poor euro exchange rate has seen to that. All of the wine warehouses that used to be packed are now empty!

France has reduced some taxes to just 5.5% but that's for restaurants only i think.

Tun, I was thinking of going to Belgium for the goodies, would that be cheaper, tobacco really and some Marlboro Lights, £66 in Tesco, £45 in Belgium.
What do you reckon?
Any ideas on how long ferry takes and costs, looked on google but seems gobbledeegook to me mate.

Last time i went, i booked a late morning ferry 10:30am ish for about £35 (one way), got there early they stuck me on the earlier ferry which was nice.

Takes about 90 mins on the ferry, but you do loose an hour as clocks go forward.

Been through various Belgium super markets, going again in July. Never found things particularly cheap. Usually loaded up with Desperados as its not stocked in UK super markets.

Di, I use http://www.ferrysavers.com, I'd strongly recommend Norfolk Line, Dover-Dunquerke, normally about £19 return for a day trip and £39 for longer IIRCC

As for booze... Unless you're going deep into France and can go to a supermarket in a small town it's not worth it.

Tobacco... Belgium is best

Fuel... France was expensive last year, Belgium was cheaper :y :y

Costco sell Desperado now.  Its a nice summer drink on a hot day.

Importing booze/fags is for personal comsumption only.  If anyone in authority saw your post, you would be in trouble ;)
