How very sad... Whistler Run does always claim a good few injuries but the loss of such a young life is always very sad

there is a serious lack of snow this year, temperatures are warm, snow is being trucked in, as its too warm to use snow machines. The base for the snowboarding section is being made up of straw to make it thicker, with snow on top

Unfortunatly as stated by the chap from the British team, more access is required for practice by all competitors. But I am afraid it is a tactic by the home nation to keep the facilty for the home team to practice on as much as possible.

Very sorry to hear of this loss,its got to be one of the most dangerous sports ever,I must admit most of the winter sports leave me a bit cold(no pun intended there ) but I hope that the beeb will show plenty of the fastest team sport , ice hockey because there will some of the best players in the world  on show.If not then ESPN will be on most of the time

Very sad

Just watched the accident video on youtube.

Lost control of the luge on the course and he sadly impacted one of a row of steel girders alongside the track.....

Shocking and hopefully lessons learnt will be implemented immediately to make the course safer before the start of the events proper.

its always sad, they are doing what they love, they know the risks, they know it can happen, but that section did look like it missed the safety inspection.

although having mentioned safety, and remembering numerous other luge crashes in years gone by, i cant see how its possible to keep a crash within the confines of the track. They just get flipped over like a surfer in a wave, so much luck, or bad luck, involved.
