Breakdown Cover
« on: 17 February 2010, 11:31:09 »

I need to get Breakdown cover, but what level do I need?
Do I go to RAC AA or Greenflag?
I understand if no one wants to offer advice, but please, I need this done today and all the sites I wnet on asked for which level of cover I need, and I have no clue?
Also, I read on here the other day that the RAC is rubbish and were being sued by someone's sister.

Depends what you want or need it for.  I've got home cover (can't remember what they call it) with the RAC, never had a problem, although I've only had to use them three times (twice at home).  Always quick, friendly, knowledgeable, and complimentary about the mig   ;D

Roadside cover= will attend your car as long as it is more than 1 mile from your home, will try to fix, if not tow to nearest approved garage. Not much use if you are 100miles from home.

Relay/Recovery= if car cannot be fixed within reasonable time car and passengers up to the amount of seats in car will be taken to a destination of your choice. Useful if doing a lot miles away from home.

Homestart= will come to your house if car won't start on the driveway, if no fix will tow to local garage.

RelayPlus= same as relay with added "benefit" of free car hire for 24hours, can often be more hassle than good.

i went with the ADAC, German version of the AA. Costs £70 per year, full breakdown in Europe & UK (UK covered by AA)

When i rang up for 1 week quotes for my road trips, i got stupid quotes, ADAC pays for itself time and time again  :y

Think it was Gaffers who put me on to them  :y

English link via google given above, just ring their standard number. I used the office phone  ::) as you are dialing Germany....

Soon as i spoke they transferred me to an English speaking customer services bod, and it all went through.

Very impressed  :y

They keep sending me a monthly magazine though, but thats all in German  ;D
