But do you believe in God?  Thiis could get interesting.  So let's politely leave God out of this as I asked the question what would YOU do if YOU found a fiver. rather than the original £500.

As said above, if not practical to return a sum of less than an hours work back to its rightful owner, I would put it to good use, like cheering someone up or charity.

I said £20 would be the limit, but maybe £10.... :-/

It's starting to become interesting now.

It seems to me that your "values in life" depend on the value you are dealing with.

£500 you would be honest, but yet £5 isnt worth the hassle.

Most of you will throw in your "twopennyworth" about kids, drinking and stealing, but,if you were 100% honest can you say that every drink you have had was legel, and if not was it with your parents consent.  8-)

As kids are you all saying you didnt nick the odd packet of sweets.  ;)

As as Adults you have never helped yourself to any of the office stationary.  :o

Have you returned every library book you ever borrowed.

The garden tools borrowed from friends and neighbers over the years.  :-/

Where does your level of honesty stop, and whats your excuse.  As I say, it gets very interesting.   ::)

Perhaps I'm overly cautious, but I wouldn't pick up a carrier bag I found in the street, so I'd never know about the £500, or, for that matter, the IED, therein.

I'm amazed nobody else has mentioned this. :) :) :)

For the record, if I came across a bundle of banknotes lying in the street, I think I'd pocket it and say nothing to anyone (including the wife).  That's now - for most of my life before now, I would have handed it in to the police, but the older I get, the less public spirited I feel. :)

I am pretty sure that a solicitor robbed me of a large amount of money around 1980.It could well have been about £50,000 Im not sure and it proved impossible to find out when I tried.
My last employer owes me £15,000 from a tribunal award but I have no legal route of getting it as they changed their name, so in the unlikely event I was to find a large amount of money I think I would consider it as karma and stick it under the matress. ;)

It ain't yours, you did not earn it, so no right to keep it.  I would hand it into the Police and if unclaimed would then use it to spread a bit of happiness  :y

I would not like to keep it and have to think who had lost it and what the person did when they realised etc.

Last year I was driving along a Welsh back road at 50mph and just spotted a green fabric wallet in the grass on the verge, so stopped and went back for it.  It was full of cash and had no ID except an out of date gym card.  I googled the gym, rang them, asked them to get the member to call me urgently.
The owner called and she was ecstatic-she was on holiday a few miles away and the wallet contained her two weeks money she had saved for; she had been distraught for 2 days.

I have had many things honestly returned to me; what goes around comes around  :y

I never have, so what goes around comes around in that sense too.

Start spreading the love, it'll come back  ;D ;D ;D

Ever seen my name is Earl?

karma  ;)

Tricky believing it sometimes when there are many selfish people about and times are hard, but whatever the loss or gain, at least you can look at yourself in the mirror or be at peace in the dark hours.

My Mother is a vicar, my Father a (now retired) Police Officer and they tried to drill this into me, but it never made sense when I was younger; until I did the wrong thing a few times and the gain was not worth the soul searching.  I guess I am selfish too, then  :-?
