Just a thought, I LPG'd my car a few months back and told the insurance, but haven't yet told DVLA. My insurance renewal just came through at £206 ( L & V), so I tried checking around, however when I tick the modified box and say LPG, quotes jump up. I have the feeling that if I told DVLA and it was recorded as Dual Fuel, then it wouldn't be classified as modified and quotes would be lower. Some quotes are absolutely stupid, over £600  .

and there's nothing wrong with driving for 3hrs each day on the M62, they are basically nice drivers, shame their cars don't have indicators, steering that changes lanes every few secs, and light that don't work, or are permanently stuck on fog lights

Hmm. Must do that myself. I bet DVLA need some sort of proof that it's converted though. Wonder if this'll do?

I was half wondering that as well, however the V5C just has a box, No 27 which is 11 spaces wide, doesn't seem to ask for proof. What do you put in there ?. I wonder if you put in Candlepower, what they would do ?.

i wouldnt mention modifying if poss, just that its duel fuel. Might be worth a phone call to a human being at the insurance company with cheapest quote and discuss it.

Notifying dvla got £15 of my car tax. Wohoo.

DVLA wanted the certificate from the installer to change mine to dual fuel ...   saves me a whole £10 a year in tax !!!

Insurance ... even when registered as dual fuel . it is still "modified" from its original manufactured state, so must be declared as such. Most Insurance sites now include an LPG tick box under the modified section  ....  I have run several "quotes" on-line both with and without ticking that box .. and had no difference in quotes at all.

I get a loading for the bodykit .. not for the LPG ....

Agreed... I get quotes without and then with LPG... If the premium is loaded I don't use them unless they are considerably cheaper as it really grips my $h1t

Incidentally, Swiftcover, LV, More Than, Direct Line (I think) and Ibuyeco don't load premium... In fact, some give a discount

I got my renewal document from LV for £206. I went to money supermarket, prices were considerably higher, £280 being the cheapest. I then went to Confused, and tried again. There prices were also higher, due to ticking the modified box, I re-ran it without the box ticked and prices came down a lot. Interestingly enough LV wouldn't give a quote with an LPG modified car on either of the sites, but that's who I am currently with, and when I told them about it a couple of months ago, they were perfectly happy, no increase . ! 

Perhaps the thing to do is to temporarily "unconvert it", remove something like the power feed to the gas tank solenoid, so it is not fully converted, get your insurance, then a week later phone up and tell them its been converted.

What a crazy world we live in, here we are being environmentally friendly, and we get penalised
