I think c) is the reason sammy sledge has gone missing. Either she's hidden it for safety reasons, or its in the neighbours garden (and I ain't knocking on their door asking for a sledgehammer back!).

I checked the rugby field out the back, and its not there....

Nah, he would have left it attached somewhere.  A rachet spanner falling off at 80mph is one thing, sammy would be altogether more dangerous
