The INCREDIBLE Mr Russ Swift. But who on earth bought the bloody things?
They were RUBBISH, but a mate of mine had 7 of them in diesel engine version all for taxi's and he swore by them.
Takes all sorts.

My Dad had an 18 month old 1.6 LX in deep blue, bloody lovely car at the time.....

First car I ever pranged (reversed into a concrete bollard)

First car I had got intimate in.....thanks Dawn Cotterill.......!!!

First car I ever remember having REAR headrests.....!

Lovely comfortable drive, quick enough and plenty of space....

Sadly a very rare sight these days.....

A lass I used to work with had one. One boring lunchtime a couple of us went outside with some trim tape and renamed it..... we removed the 'E' and turned the 'M' upside down ;D ;D Think about it ;)

She never ever noticed ;D ;D

..is there anyone on here that spent half a day at a VXR event at Donnington a couple of years ago with Russ's son giving lessons on how to do this in an Astra (between inflatable cars) ?  What a fantastic day that was - the passenger laps in the VXR Corsa and Vectra were amazing  :o
He was also at the last Excel motorshow event in the Honda arena - stunning .

Had a diesel estate, (Perkins engine) went on and on, over 50mpg round town, and 60+ on a run. And that was the 7seat 'Countryman'  version, and fully loaded!!  It passed several MOT's without any problems, and only ever had a new alternator, apart from the usual consumables. When it finally expired, (rust, not the engine) it had done 178000, and the guy who bought it from me wanted the engine for a landy!!  ;D ;D

(Me miggy only does 27 round town, and 33 on a run  :'( ) but I know which I'd prefer... :y

About 2 years ago I put a car into storage while I moved house and in a large barn near Aylesbury is a lot of bentley's, ferrari's, lambo's and the like and at the back is a gold coloured Montego MG with just 200 miles on the clock - bought as an investement by someone apparently - must have cost more in storage than it was ever worth :)

No doubt still there!!   :y
