Any Posties On Here
« on: 01 March 2010, 18:51:54 »

I sold a few items on ebay yesterday. Nothing much just a few quids worth.
I always send Recorded Delivery, but they always try the little letter box thingy at the Post Office & then say we'll have to send that as a large letter or what ever.
The bloody item has to be signed for & not posted through the letter box so why try shoving through the letter box thingy :-? :-/

Does the Postie get you to sign for the package & then shoves through your letter box afterwards ;D

Is this a guide for size as well as weight :-/

I asked her why & i got "I don't know"  ::) ::)

hi mate

right i see if i can help
all items now are graded by size and weight and thickness
reason being is there a new machines that sort items faster than any human can so u pay for the privilage of a human sorting your  little packet into the right delivery office
its another way of making money thats all
so now there are
letter
large letter ie a4
letter packet ie cd size and thickness
and packet
and parcel
hope this helps
and no the posties should not sign and post it through the door but sometime we do depends on how well the postie knows the person recieving the item

Back home in Australia I used to work in a post office,,
another reason we always tried the slots (under instructions).. Is because if it does fit through the smaller slot, even only slightly, we can charge you less, a better amount for you.. ;)
Not sure if that is the case outside the smaller post offices in small towns..
But customer service does still exist ;)

Yep, our postie will sign for us, even a parcel, he will open the porch door and pop the parcel in, even if it is for our neighbour who does not have a porch...... :y
