Not looking forward to this

Just had a call from the Father in Law... The culvert in their stream appears to be blocked and the water has risen to a very high level... Can I go and have a look :o :o :o

It's probably about 4' deep now and very cold but I can't have the "oldies" going in water that cold... ...Although they're well off ::) ::) ;D ;D

So... Time to find my swimming stuff :'( :'(

if you have a plumbers snake it might help shift it without having to go in :y
and if you do go in attach yourself securely with a rope

 :o No, No, no!.....Please do not go into the water; slimey-footing, suction and fast-currents may catch you unawares.....drain rods would be the only safe DIY choice.

Best to call the local council environmental dept. emergency No. and let them deal with it. ;)

All sorted! :y :y

Unfortunately the culvert is only about 8" across and was full of silt... It's actually more of a drainage ditch than a stream so not particularly fast flowing. Had to go in to get the right angle to get the drain rods through but was well secured :y :y

The unfortunate thing is that it was at "Critical Depth" and very cold, even through the waders :o :o Still.... Done now, just need to go and have another go at dredging the silt out when the level is more sociable ;) ;)

Debs, tried the council last time it happened and they weren't interested >:( >:( Came out about 3 days later, even though it was flooding across the road at about 6" depth! :o :o Was a mere 3" running across the road today and rapidly approaching the top of the bank inside the garden so needed doing ASAP. Level had dropped by about 3' when I checked it just before coming home... They felt they had to buy me lunch to compensate for my cold dipping :y :y

Next time you can borrow my dry suit with thermals, tis toasty warm in there...even in freezing water :y

Don't go in yourself. Can't you find an illigal immigrant to send in, they'll do anything for a few quid :D

Surly that is dependant on the starting point, if already a member of the Corsa Sports... :D :D :D
