Can any one tell me the difference between world super bikes and motogp please.

world super bike are modified showroom bikes and Motogp bikes are totally one off's, just like touring cars and F1...

Motogp is the two wheeled equivalent of F1. WSB isnt the equivalent of touring cars though,its much higher up the scale than that. There isnt really a 4 wheeled version of WSB.
Although based on production models, WSB machines are a lot closer to Motogp machines than touring cars are to F1 cars.

World supers have to retain the stroke and bore of the production bike engine they are based on.Moto GP are prototypes with different rules and a smaller engine capacity (at the moment 800cc,has been 990cc(both four stroke) and before that 500cc two stroke screamers).The minimum weight limits for wsb and moto gp are different as is the fuel capacity of the bikes.It is limited to 21 litres in moto gp,wsb can use the size of the production machine so vary between manufacturers.Moto gp was reduced to 800 to 'slow them down' but they have greater corner speed than the 990 they replaced,so at a few circuits last season the overall lap time was less on an 800 than a 990(slowing down really worked).wsb have to be homologated with a minimum production run of said bike available for the public to purchase,usually 1000 bikes.

was a great era, but i dont miss them, did you know, the max output of any 500 was less than the first production fireblade. Or so i read. iirc

My mate bought a Foggy replica.  "Only" cost him £21,000 in 1998.

Can't believe that mate. My KR1 is 56bhp in standard trim and the 500s were essentially 2 of them bolted together.

They got replaced by 990cc four strokes a few years back to be reduced in capacity to 800cc.There is talk of 2011/2 having 1000cc machines as well on the grid.

That would be reffering to road bikes Chris. I cant recall any 2 stroke road bike which achieved 100bhp (but the way they delivered the power was the fun part), the 500 2 stroke GP bikes were just over 200bhp and the throttle was by all accounts more like an on/off switch. A lot more difficult to ride than todays bikes according to Rossi. :y
