I've just dropped my car...

...off for the MOT. This morning I replaced all the brakes and pads, and rear springs.
It had better pass!

To do: Replace brake discs and pads; adjust already replaced shoes; check for leaks in oil cooler, cambelt area, crank seals, sump, dipstick; replace osf door; replace a tyre; clean, MOT.

why do people list post count in threads as insurance anyway.....easily editable by the powers that be  ;D ;D ;D

I couldn't be arsed to look mine up anyway.  Kinda pointless for mods/admins, as it doesn't affect our titles/status

Good news; it passed, with advisories for front wishbone bushes and a tiny bit of corrosion on brake pipes.

They had to flip round one of my tyres as it was directional in the wrong direction. It was the spare and I had to put it on the 'wrong' side of the car to replace one with a massive egg in the sidewall. I suppose that's a problem with having a directional spare.
While I waited towards the end when they flipped the tyre round I saw them fit the wheel back on using a torque wrench.
I commended them about that because I know mechanincs can be somewhat heavy handed with the air tools. They said they always do wheels with torque wrenches. Good on them...
It got me thinking, has anyone else noticed similar good practice with their garages doing things 'properly' that are all too often done wrong by incompetant mechanics?
