I've found meths is quite good for loosening up dried ink on nozzles but the only real solution is to keep using the things (and make sure to park the head properly.

Never had a soft spot for inkjests.

No printer is infallible, though. They all have their drawbacks and irritations. At least inkjets are cheap enough that you can regard them as disposable after a couple of years use.

I have an R300. Nice printer. Does a pretty respectable job on photos, TBH.

I would be inclined to soak the cleaning pad on the right hand side of the platen in isopropyl alcohol or similar and run a couple of nozzle cleaning cycles. See where that gets you.

I have been using mine with a CIS system and ebay inks for a couple of years and it's been fine if in regular use. Leave it for a couple of weeks without use and you're back to square one though.

Sounds good to me, where can I get some, I have a feeling I have used some inthe past or something similar, can I get it from the chemist.?

Any good pc shop should sell it - called cartridge flush/cleaner.

It's more the propensity to smear that I can't stand.  Let alone if the document gets wet!

A firm I contracted for gave me some business cards that smudged in my wallet!  They were even delivered with separator papers that had to be removed!  Totally inappropriate technology for that use.
