How it works is they do not give a toss.
Should NEVER have happend, and the FULL MIGHT of the LAW should fall on ALL concerned,
from nurses to staff sisiter and ward manager, in my eyes they are all culpable.
And, to add, the police officer(s) that attended should be prosecuted as well, did they take someones word for it, when in desperation the police were called and they did not visit him, assuming they did not visit him.

I find that really quite sad, in this day and age.....

No doubt there is an opposite to the picture painted by the mother and, as always, reality will be somewhere inbetween.....

I read this story a couple of days ago. Its horrific, heart goes out to the poor mother. Possibly a symptom of "targets are everything" culture prevalent in Hospitals these days.

Don't really think that is a fair quantum leap....  There are always two sides to a situation, in my experience, with reality being somewhere between both.

I did say possibly, but I must admit a degree of bias. My family have been unfortunate enough to need the NHS on quite a few occassions in the last decade - always for very serious problems. One of them had treatment for a very serious illness and had the most fantastic treatment you could wish for. All the others had treatment ranging from quite poor to rather atrocious. My observations of nurses (particularily younger examples) was that most of them couldnt give a toss tbh, no interest in patients or their problems and no pride in their work.

whilst this terrible experience has not been the case with my families experience there is a need to make sure the family visits and raises these issues. We have been lucky that at different ends of the country we have been able to get cover.

If you are in hospital with no visitors the risk goes up and nhs should be alive to this not use it as an excuse to ignore.
