Where's Gideon?
« on: 21 March 2010, 10:00:54 »

watching The Andrew Marr show this morning, I noticed the tories are now sending Philip Hammond (me neither) Shadow Sec to the treasury to discuss their fiscal plans - including the U-turn on banking taxes - at last DC's people have seen sense and are hiding the hopeless Shadow Chancellor away from the cameras, finally taking my advice - i assume the consulting fee cheque is in the post  ;) ;D

If he wins the election I hope he then takes the advice that I have offered on many occasions - dumps Osborne to a less significant Dept. and replaces him with Ken Clarke. On the proviso that Ken talks about finance and only finance. If he does this I will gladly forego my consultancy fee. ;)

you're right - Ken Clarke is annoyingly sensible and down to earth - i'm pretty sure he's been asked and turned the job down - if he hasn't i'd want to know why....if i was a tory that is  ;)

I dont think he has been offered it. I think they are frightened of him having a major post in government because he is the most pro-european high profile Tory and it could end up causing a civil war in the party. I think it would be a chance worth taking from their point of view though as the economy is in such a dire state and they have no-one else who would be capable of sorting the mess out.
He was an excellent Chancellor in his day - shame all his good work was wrecked in a very short time by Brown. ;)

Yes, those Tories are so corrupt, not like the lovable socialists currently in government.
