I still think it was a reasonable law that you could beat women with a stick as long as is was no thicker than your little finger  ::) ;)

That is where 'rule of thumb' originates iirc,I'm sure someone will know and correct me  :)

 ::)I thought the 'rule of thumb' to which you refer was applied to Men and the stick/thumb thickness equals one inch, as in: "Beat him to within 1 inch of his life!" ;D

I saw the error of my ways and cooked the poor woman a nice meal and missed the first half so I could chat to her about her day. :)
