The officers who want sending down are the ones who beat the crap outta the drunk bloke who was walking AWAY without creating any commotion at all.

The woman in that story was a gobby bitch from the off who kept advancing with arms waving and swearing more than I do (and that's saying something), she wants to count herself lucky that all she got was a couple of slaps for it.

I think this girl was asking for trouble then bleated when she got it. The Officer in question is a big lad & if he really wanted to hurt her he would've done. I don't believe in blokes hitting women at all but i think she was being gobby & trying it on.
She sold the story to one of the papers. Reckon she's a player. ::)

Seargeant Smellie must have really feared for his safety.
Just imagine being hit in the neck by a sharpened swear word.   :D

Take a look at all the other crap going on, he was simply stopping any potential harm to himself and other officers before it started.

This must be considered, the Police are in a no win situation, I am pleased with the result, in this case. :y

Much as I think the old bill are a bunch of idiots, the video quite clearly shows the copper did NOT use excessive force at all.

The silly rugmunching bitch wants to count herself lucky, if she had tried that back in the day then she wouldn't have been able to walk to the jobcentre unaided to claim her dole money for a good few weeks afterwards.

Smellie, who could still face misconduct proceedings hugged and kissed his supporters after giving a double thumbs up and thanking the judge.

...but I thought he was innocent ::)

Hi,looking at the circumstances of this caseI myself have been on the receiving end of police officers nasty /brutal peace keeping methods.
Whilst on peaceful picket at the steel plant at which I worked,I have witnessed police charges at the picket line for no other reason than to make arrests and do bodily harm to persons just to jusify their presence there (on highly paid overtime,of which they would wave their pay slips at you).
Not all coppers are bad,but there are some that need little excuse to put the boot in.

she did not turn up to give evidence because she did not want to be cross examined on that evidence.

Selling the story?...... come on.... the result is right!!

If she lived in America, she'd have been shot.

My guess is that good old Smellie has "kicked the crap" out of just about everyone during his time in the force......He just got caught on camera this time...This guy is no angel ....and is clearly unable to deal with pressure......that tiny little woman must have been soooooooo scary for Smellie to act in the way he did.... :-/ :-/ :-/ ;)

The video doesn't show everything that independant witnesses saw.
Orange juice from the carton she was holding had already been seen dripping off the cops face, and more than one witness also described her as a "lunatic".

.....I agree that this woman may not be Mary Poppins....but surely the police have to deal with all sorts of people in the line of duty. In my opinion she was NOT a significant threat......Perhaps he has personal problems and just decided to give her a slap. ::) ::) ;)
