"The Tories accused the Government of backing plans to erase Britain's history.

Communities spokesman Caroline Spelman said: 'Labour ministers have already sought to replace England and its shires with government office regions.

'Now British taxpayers' money is being used literally to wipe our nation off the map, erase 1,000 years of history and downgrade the English Channel to the insulting status of a pond."

So you wouldn't vote for the Tory spokesman, Caroline Spelman, then.  ::) ::) ;)

It is all tosh and a distraction away from the crucial political battle about to really commence when the GE is announced (this week?).  Even my Tories can use such tosh to their advantage, but it is all an irrelevant side show involving implausible stories with no long term worth! ;D ;D ;D ;)

Ties in with the EU plan a few years ago to include the south of England in the same region as northern France,Ireland and a coupleof other EU countries. The rest of GB was planned to be included in a different region altogether.
A cynical person would accuse the Germans and the French of having a chip on their shoulder regarding the British in general and English in particular. ::)
