Taking the (Carbon) Credit
« on: 11 April 2010, 11:16:15 »

Envirotrade (posh capitilist Robin Birley's company) which facilitates the, to my mind, ridiculous practice of "off-setting" carbon by celebrities - to make them feel good, lets be honest (and make a shed load of money for Mr Birley)- was dealt a blow, the problem, as always was greed - Rockhopper (the production company who made the doc for the BBC) kept schtum about the fact that Envirotrade's ceo is also trust manager of the Africa Livelihood Trust (which paid for the doc) a conflict of interest i'd expect from Sky but this is why we pay the licence fee - i don't want the beeb to cut corners and hire production companies with less integrity  >:(

never trust a capilist....why does no one ever listen to me?  ;D

But is it not to the credit of the BBC that they have reviewed the decision to show that documentary and ruled against themselves! 8-) 8-) 8-)

I will always back the BBC whilst they act in a democratic manner, publicly reviewing their decisions, letting public criticism take place on their own news and "Points of View" programmes.   Does ITV do this; can you easily criticise ITV through readily available mediums;  NO to both. ;) ;)

No one is perfect, so mistakes will happen.  The real character of any organisation is how it owns up to them ;) ;)

i've always admired the beebs ability to impartially review its own output and to never shy away from admitting errors of judgement. as usual its putting too much faith in an outside production company that's the problem, maybe they should do more in-house and increase the licence fee to cover it? only half-joking ;)
