And why is that? :-/ :-/  It is, I suggest, because it cannot be proved as a fake, no more than proved to be genuine

http://www.shroudstory.com/

It really comes down to a question of faith.  You either believe or you do not, but I do accept the human race knows next to nothing about our universe.  So why should we close our minds in ignorance instead of keeping them open to possibilities?

Do not forget it was not too long ago that a certain Mr Galileo Galilei was attacked by the Roman Catholic Church for his stupid, idiotic and blasphemous view that the Earth was not the centre of the universe.............!!!!! ::) ::) ::) ::)

Banjax has his own atheist religion which preaches intolerance to anyone who has a faith. That's why he's always poking fun at orthodox belief.

Bit childish, if you ask me. ::)

Liz, I'm surprised at you  :o

Nickbat'll believe almost any old hogwash, but Liz - you're the voice of reason!!  :y

so you actually think theres a chance that old JC was an immensely tall (5'11" back in the day he'd of been a giant) european, don't recall that ever having been mentioned in the scriptures?  I admire blind faith, but even most senior clerics don't believe the shroud is real - come on  :o

Thanks for the compliment BJ, but it is exactly due to my "voice of reason" that makes me believe in the fact that no one has yet disproved the authentisity of the Shroud, which is the very point of my post, and therefore must continue to be considered as a "possibility". ;) ;)

It is no good ridiculing something when you have no proof that it is either genuine or a fake.  My reasoning therefore is that until science reveals the truth one way or the other, I will remain open minded.  My belief in God, and Jesus Christ, is very strong due to a number of events in my life that for me have proved their loving existence; that is personal faith.  When it comes to the Shroud I cannot, with both my academic and (limited) scientific brain dismiss it out of hand, or conversely accept it. :D :D ;)

i respect your open-mindedness Liz, but as far as i can see it's been carbon-dated with 95% confidence to around 13th-14th century, but i admit i'm coming at it from an atheist perspective so it always strikes me as extremely bizarre what people can believe (or want to believe) regardless of evidence  :y

But that is now being questioned by scientists BJ, and it could be 2000 years old.  So the debate goes on, and the real truth has yet to emerge ;)
