Nope it's not a car hence why it's in GDA.

Finished restoring the rather old dinghy that I picked up in Feb although the hull still needs to be repainted the rest is good and looking nice.

Me and the wife took her out into the Solent this weekend, launched from Calshot yesterday and played around getting used to her near the shore.  I wasn't happy with a couple of things and the wife hates camping out so dragged her back home overnight and made a few adjustments.  Launched again today from Ashlett creek and pottered down to Calshot, up into Southampton water dodging huge container ships along the way.  I only had the main up as the foresail I bought off ebay was too big but even so we reached 5 knots surfing down some waves at one point which was quite hairy.  No pics unfortunately as we dont have a waterproof cover for it yet but should do next time

It was the wife's first time sailing and she enjoyed it but I doubt she'll get the sailing bug until she understands it better.  Must get her on a sailing course 

Thinking about hitting Poole in a couple of weeks, the mackerel should be back soon

Well done mate I'm green with envy, I could just do with a bit of life on the ocean wave ATM I really miss being on the the 'Oggin', rather than just looking at it.

Will do debs, by the way have you ever seen wood coated with 2 coats of epoxy and 4 coats of polyurethane varnish?  It looks so good, almost like 15 coats of expensive epifanes

I built my own sea kayak a few years ago and did two epoxy coats and then two 2-pack coats.  You could almost reach into the reflections.  Beautiful. 

What's the next project then?  I've got plans for s double tourer and a surf boat.

one thing i miss in my life from the past, being in the scouts. the kids of today have nothing to compare to what we had when kids. i used to love the mountaineering and canoeing and travelling.

I built a North Bay from a kit sold by a bloke producing them under license from Chesapeake Light Craft.  My mate built a 17ft Chesapeake, which sat a bit high out the water for me.  I wanted a 'wet' boat that sat low in the water, had a smaller cockpit, was relatively unstable but went like the clappers - which is pretty much what I got.

I did outdoor pursuits at high school which did Caving, Rock Climbing, Canoeing and Sailing etc

I forget all the terms that they used but get to a point in a zig zag line didn't quiet have the right  effect on me being honest at that time, although seeing these men and women hanging out the side pulling ropes looks fun
