HP alarms!
« on: 13 April 2010, 19:03:21 »

I know, I know I'm sad but its my day off and I was a bit bored so I answered the door to these elderly jehhovahs (sometimes I even invite them in to discuss Richard Dawkins' "god delusion"  ;D) and I was reading this mag they gave me and there was a bit from the WallStreetJournal ;"used car dealers are installing remote disabling devices that keep the car from starting if the buyer gets too far behind on payments" with flashing lights and alarms going off to prompt them to pay!!Anyone heard of that one before?

ps not that I want to knock anyones religion but there was also an article about pre-marital sex where (quote)"engaging in pre-marital sex is an abuse of God's gift. Its like taking a beautiful painting that someone gave you and using it as a doormat". Judging from an earlier thread I seem to recall on here it seems all a bit late for the majority of people on here ::)

Sounds like they may have twisted the truth a little there. I've heard of anti-theft devices which behave in a similar manner..... ::) ;D

thats OK , I'll just do what everyone else does and close the curtains and hide behind the sofa and they'll give up and go away...

pps they hold one of their big conventions in july by my work place and trust me Skruntie would be in heaven (no pun intended). The vast majority of the girls are really fit. They all dress up in short summer dresses like they were going to a summer wedding. Last year saw a bizarre trend in them teaming these dresses with what can only be described as "porno boots" however. Seriously, all the wagon drivers who pulled up at the gates nearly had accidents they were drooling so much (not THAT kind of accidents before someone says it  ;D)

I read an article the other day about a disgruntled ex-employee hacking into this system and randomly disabling cars, I'll try and  find the link ...

Interesting one.  I guess the car is still technically their property until it's been paid for, so you can't bypass the black box legally.  I bet it's a doddle to do in practice.  As for 'he got someone else's password' - I think it's more likely they didn't cancel his.

What the JWs find in that story I've no idea!  It's not in Revelation AFAIK. :D
